Elsa Lafuente Medianu (pronunciado [ˈelsa laˈfwente meˈðjanu]; nacida el 18 de julio de 1976),[1] conocida profesionalmente como Elsa Pataky, es una modelo y actriz española. Pataky nació como Elsa Lafuente Medianu en Madrid, España,[1] hija de José Francisco Lafuente, un bioquímico español, y Cristina Medianu Pataky, una publicista rumana.[2][3] Tiene un medio hermano menor: Cristian Prieto Medianu, director de cine. Utiliza el apellido Pataky en homenaje a su abuela materna: Rosa Pataky.[4]
Pataky formó parte de la compañía madrileña Teatro Cámara de Ángel Gutiérrez. Finalmente, dejó la escuela cuando fue elegida para la serie de televisión Al salir de clase[2] Algunas de sus películas posteriores fueron coproducciones con el Reino Unido y Francia, lo que la introdujo a trabajar en inglés y francés.
