Real techniques powder bleu
Real techniques star studded brush set
Ays, after all the setbacks of the past week I can FINALLY sit down and talk to you about one of my favorite topics: brushes! And don’t just any brush, but all the Real Techniques brushes I have 😉
The idea of doing this post came up a few weeks ago, when after a few days using one that I had recently bought I thought “it would be nice to share with the girls which are my favorites of the brand…”. But you already know me and you know that my first idea is never the definitive one, I always fall short! So…
If you’ve just landed on Youtube -or the rest of the platforms with profiles dedicated to the world of beauty and makeup- you probably don’t know it, but the creators of Real Techniques are Samantha and Nic Chapman, better known as “the Pixiwoo sisters” thanks to their Youtube channel.
While technique is key to good results, the quality of the products is especially important. And I’m not only referring to the products we are going to apply on our skin (shadows, foundations, lipsticks), but to the tools with which we are going to do it.
Real techniques face brushes
Then I started to see them in the blogosphere and they were positioned as the brushes of a thousand and one miracles, until they were found in many online stores and in some physical stores, in addition to Primor.
Despite being sold as brushes with synthetic fibers, with great results and aluminum handles, they did not end up dazzling me. However, in the end I got carried away and when I took a look and saw what brushes I could buy on iHerb (if you want, you can use the code SDF421 to get $5 off your first purchase), Real Techniques brushes were some of the chosen ones.
If I remember correctly, I’ve been using these brushes since 2013 and I wanted to share my opinion on whether Real Techniques brushes are that much of a deal, as they go as far as saying that they are the best brushes in terms of quality and price:
I ended up buying this brush because I couldn’t find any that looked like MAC’s 224. The MAC one seemed too expensive and this one wasn’t the same at all, they only matched in that they were loose hair, not like a painter’s brush nor flat cut (like Sigma’s P80).
Real techniques starter set
Today begins the BLACK FRIDAY at Notino, with extra discounts on the usual price of 20%, (from November 25 to December 1, inclusive) and what better occasion than this to tell you about what can be a treat or a gift for lovers of makeup, brushes, good taste, and soft things?
This curiosity also has a practical use, the grip. Although they are not ergonomic, it becomes easier to hold them by the squarer area (at least, to me), and this makes the brush work from the distance that, in principle, it should be.
They have a quite remarkable weight in the area near the hair, and that weight gives them stability, but also makes that, when we wash them, we need a support to hang them during drying. You can find them very cheap in Aliexpress.
Regarding the color of their fur, it has not been chosen randomly. The hair of the blue squirrel is considered the softest that exists, but, following its cruelty free policy, Real Techniques has developed a patented technique called FauxBleu Technology, which mimics the best of those squirrel hair brushes, but in a totally vegan way, which is something to be thankful for.
